The moves don’t come close to the ones Nick Marshall show in the open field, but Gus Malzahn isn’t Elaine Benes either when it comes to dancing.
The urban legend surrounding a video of Malzahn dancing to Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This” has been around for years, but it’s been proven true.
Here’s what AL.com wrote about the video:
A breakdancing video taken during a family trip to Six Flags in the 1990s has been rumored for awhile. Deadspin dates the video around 2001 when Malzahn was at Shiloh (Christian) High School. In the video the normally buttoned up Auburn coach breaks it down in the cheesiest ways possible.
This is from the video description on YouTube:
I believe this video was made while he was head coach of Shiloh Christian High School, but I’m not completely certain. I have a copy of it on my 2001 Springdale High School Highlights DVD created by Mark Young.
Fortunately for Auburn, Malzahn can coach better than he can dance.
He was the offensive coordinator when Auburn won the national championship with Cam Newton in 2010 and led the Tigers back to the title game in his first year as coach last year.
Auburn is 7-1 (4-1 SEC) and should retain their No. 3 rank after the Tigers’ 35-31 victory at Ole Miss on Saturday.
They play host to Texas A&M at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
