Mississippi State stays No. 1; Oregon moves into fourth

Mississippi State remained No. 1 and Oregon moved into No. 4 in the College Football Playoff Rankings released Tuesday night.

The Ducks defeated Stanford and took advantage of Auburn’s win over Ole Miss to move into a national semifinal spot.

Florida State is No. 2 and Auburn is third.

Alabama is fifth, followed by TCU.

Some highlights from this week’s rankings:

  • Ole Miss dropped from No. 4 to 11th after the loss at Auburn.
  • Kansas State, which was ninth last week, jumped Michigan State to No. 7. The Spartans stayed at No. 8 heading into this week’s game against 14th-ranked Ohio State.
  • Arizona State jumped from No. 14 to No. 9.
  • Georgia fell from No. 11 to 20 after its loss to Florida.
  • Georgia Tech moved into the rankings at No. 24.
