To continue with the Auburn theme today, Gus Malzahn earlier this afternoon, named Jeremy Johnson as starting QB for 2015. ICYMI, Tray Matthews had a strong A-Day scrimmage on Saturday.
In other news, the sky is blue (except in Georgia in April) and grass is green.
Johnson has been expected to be Auburn’s starting QB this fall since Nick Marshall ran out of eligibility. Sean White, who redshirted last year, was his main competition.
He had a strong A-Day game with 252 yards and two TDs passing in the first half.
“I’m very excited about this year, and I’m pretty sure the rest of the guys are, too,” Johnson told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. “We’re just coming on as a team and building team chemistry on and off the field.”
Johnson started one game as a freshman in 2013 and one last year when Marshall was suspended. He responded by throwing for 243 yards and two TDs in the opening victory over Arkansas.
He’s thrown for 858 career yards with nine TDs and two interceptions.
