Video shows FSU QB De’Andre Johnson punching a woman in the face
Newly released surveillance camera video footage from a Tallahassee bar shows Florida State freshman QB De’Andre Johnson punching a woman in the face, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
(You can see the confrontation at 1:50 in video above.)
The state’s attorney’s office decided to charge Johnson with misdemeanor battery after viewing the video evidence. Johnson turned himself into authorities on June 30.
The quarterback was indefinitely suspended from the team on June 25 for “a violation of athletic department policy.”
The university dismissed Johnson following the release of the tape.

Absolutely sickening. Something about the ease with which he chose his response and then carried it out suggests that this sort of behavior has been a part of his life and environment for a long time, which, speaking as a man, is both sad and infuriating. The acceptance of committing violence against women that obviously is still going strong in parts of the male population has to end. It just has to.
Catch you at the Drive Thru De'Andre.
Where does FSU find these 'QBs'?? First, it was Winston that carried around allegations of rape while he was at FSU, and now De'Andre! Do they not share with them any DO's and DON'Ts when they sign?
Doesn't FSU realize they are creating a name for themselves that will drive away many potential students who have the intellectual ability to actually GRADUATE?
@PappyHappy Anyone who appears "strong" like Winston can play at FSU. Thats the only requirement. #WeStrong
Have an idea that De’Andre just put his life on the LOSER TRACK. Noticed that the girl appeared white. Could this possibly be a HATE HIT?
Folks, time to call in Senator Kristen Gillibrand (Self Appointed Sheriff of Sexual Assault). She has this on on tape, so she should be able to use this as EXHIBIT #1!
She loves to go after the military and grabs those headlines at each and every opportunity, but the military is nothing more than a microorganism of our society as a whole.
Let's see if she acts on this, or if she will stay with the low hanging fruit of the military, and passes this incident off as just a 'cultural difference with the parties involved'.
DOES SHE REALLY WANT TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT, or is she out for mere PR?
The girl's likely intoxicated behavior wasn't without blame but the bottom line is he had a choice to just turn and walk away. However, he chose to hit her square in the face with a fist at full force.
Any one of you girly men above or below that in any way justify or excuse this type of behavior by this punk are no better than he is and my only hope is you'll get corrected by a real man one day; my guess is, you already have.
@RangeRover I don't know whats more sad. The punk who punched the girl in the video or the people on here defending that punk.
My mom always told my sister, "if you hit a man, prepare to be hit back, because not all men can take it". In the same breathe she told her don't hit men. That was typical you hit me in my face, I'm embarrassed , I'm going to react. This has nothing to do with athletics. I'm sure this has happened before with the teacher, lawyer, mailman or whatever the profession. There are over 25,000 college athletes, that's over 25,000 DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES. Your job/profession doesn't change who you are. Stop beating up the school and focus more on the individual. Most you are adults and know better. IE the guy that smokes weed at your job and you know it. Does that make your company a bad company....just saying.
Again, she was pointing OVER her shoulder with her right thumb. He had her pinned to the bar with no place to put her right arm but up in the air.
She jumped in front of him when she saw him coming, would not scoot over when he was trying to get up to the bar, hit him first, and balled her fist at him like she was about to punch him in the face. What if a guy was in the girls shoes? It would have been that guys fault, right? So why is it different? Don't we hear all the time how women should be equal? You can't have it both ways. This drunk slob got what she asked for.
@toybuilt Yeah, what a macho guy this tool is. The lady was there before this scumbag. Where exactly was she supposed to scoot to? Should be kicked off the team and take Toybuilt with him. Big tough guys.
@toybuilt She was pointing over her shoulder with her right thumb and he grabbed her.
ACC committee should collectively vote to ban FSU if this kid is not kicked off the team. FSU is truly an embarrassment to the ACC. Give me a mediocre program who never wins national title over a program full of women beaters any day to represent our conference.
Wow this is a new low. How truly pathetic these self entitled college athletes have become. Seriously, do FSU and other powerhouse schools pay any attention to character when recruiting? Where are the manners and discipline? I bet his dad beats his mom too. These kids never had any parental training growing up which is why they will grow up to be criminals and if it wasn't for football, he would be in jail right now. I don't care how violently a woman reacts but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should a guy retaliate and hit a woman like that and bust open her nose. And this is coming from a guy.
the dude needs to transfer to auburn or lsu---they like the bad boys, the rule breakers, the troublemakers---just like fsu!!
Here's how the police and soliciter will see it:
1. She was at the bar first
2. He physically pushed his way by her trying to get to the bar.
3. She balls up her fist to defend herself
4. He grabs her hands (the first physical battery),begins pushing her backwards while shouting in her face
5. She reacts by using her other hand to defend herself.
6. While holding her right hand he punches her with his right hand with a fist to her mouth and then runs away leaving her bleeding.
7. He gets arrested for simple battery...as he should be.
8. Case dismissed for lack of evidence or because witness is intimidated into not testifying by FSU and he suits up for football.
He's one lucky punk that this wasn't my daughter.
@RangeRover Agreed, except No. 3. She was on line for the bar, talking to the guy at the bar, when they both moved to make their order. She indicated that she was already waiting (raised right hand thumbing to back of line) and he got disrespected. No. four turns verbal to physical and it was all him. No. eight makes it all irrelevant.
@PeachtreeBart @Hopeless in ATL @RangeRover I agree with the police, solicitor, and RangeRover. Though I hope RangeRover is wrong on No. 8, how can one doubt it?
@BuckeyeGa @Hopeless in ATL @RangeRover Her hand never moved in his direction. In fact, it was moving away from him when he grabbed her.
@Atlanta Craker @BuckeyeGa @Hopeless in ATL @RangeRover Ok. She approached the bar at 0:19 of the video (behind the guy sitting at the bar) and stood there waiting, minding her own, while the ladies to the left paid for and poured drinks. The attention of the guy at the bar turned to someone behind the victim as the spot at the bar came available. And butt-head swooped in and started pushing people around.
@BuckeyeGa @Hopeless in ATL @RangeRover She didn't raise her hand or make a fist either. It's an indefensible act on his part.
@RangeRover Sorry, but that sounds more like how you choose to see it and I would hope that you would teach your daughter not to punch men in bars as there are some that are not mature enough to not punch back.
@Hopeless in ATL @RangeRover She didn't raise her hand to tell him to get to the back of the line..she made a fist like she was about to punch him then he grabbed her fist...she then hit him with her other hand..
The area to left with mat is where you order drinks.....He was just trying to go there from what I see.
Yeah....because being under aged in a bar at college has NEVER happened before...said no one ever.
She hit him first. She's the one who should be charged. All he did was respond in kind.
Dang, now I feel dirty for defending a Criminole...
The good thing is that maybe she'll hesitate before she decides to hit a man again. Now she knows that some will hit back. What's good for the goose... Hey, you wanted equal rights. You can just choose the "good" rights.
@someonesdad She looked drunk and over-zealous, doing the "act like a man" routine so many young American women do these days, probably calling him "dude" while threatening him with her fist for really no good reason. He should be punished for hitting a woman, of course, but at the same time, she should learn to have some class.
The main issue here is that she left blood on the bar before she left with all of her cellphone buddies. I would say, lady, you started a fight, got your a$$ whipped and left blood on my bar. Please clean it up or I will call the police.
Anybody with any respect for themselves, their school, and/or their position in society would not have taken a swing at someone that was obviously of no physical threat to him. Did she call him a name? Aww, poor baby, grow a pair and walk away. What an idiot. Hope they take away his free ride. Even Jimbo can't defend this video
@DawgNole @Hopeless in ATL I didn't say that he has (yet), just acknowledged that he has a history of having to defend his QB. He can't possibly spin that video positively, can he? Stay tuned.
He probably can spin it positively, but I sure as hell hope he doesn't try to. In any event, it'll be interesting to hear his take on it--given Winston's painfully recent history.
The last thing the school needs is another QB scandal. My guess is that Johnson's gone--despite what likely will be his lawyer's attempts to convince us that the video lies.
@DawgNole @Hopeless in ATL he's doing both. Claiming the girl was aggressor but suspendingng the guy because he's being charged
@Clarence Abernathy @DawgNole @Hopeless in ATL
Nope.
He's been dismissed--not suspended. And it's his lawyer (not Fisher) "claiming the girl was aggressor."
Better check your sources.
