Vernon Hargreaves III is arguably the best cornerback in college football. The Gators’ future first-round draft pick also thinks his teammates in the secondary are the best in the game.
Earlier this offseason, some players on Florida and LSU engaged in a Twitter argument over which team should be considered defensive back university or “DBU.”
“We tried not to get into the whole Twitter debate about ‘who is DBU?’” Hargreaves said Monday at SEC Media Days. “We’re just going to let the season play out for itself and then at the end of the season it won’t be close.”
Along with Hargreaves, the Gators have last year’s freshman standout Jalen Tabor, breakout safety Keanu Neal and Brian Poole, who had four interceptions, returning.
For LSU: Jalen Mills, Tre’Davious White, Kevin Toliver III, Jamal Adams and Ed Paris all return in the secondary.
The two teams will have a chance to settle this debate on the field when they square off in Baton Rouge on Oct. 17.
