Nick Saban is the utmost authority on all things Nick Saban, and he let it be known on Thursday during his media availability.
The Alabama coach took the time to address his disdain for unauthorized biographies after a book titled, “Saban: The Making of a Coach,” was released this week.
As you may have guessed, it wasn’t actually written by Saban himself. The 352-page book, which was written by Monte Burke of Forbes Magazine, dives into some previously unknown details of the enigmatic coach’s life, including his youth.
Not surprisingly, Saban was the least bit pleased. So much, in fact, that he addressed the book before he could even be prompted by a media member.
“I am opposed to an unauthorized biography for anybody,” Saban said during his press conference. “I think that’s some person you don’t even know trying to profit by your story, or someone else’s story,” Saban said. “One of these days when I’m finished coaching at Alabama, I’ll write an authorized book, because there’s really only one expert on my life. And guess who that is? Me. There won’t be any misinformation, there won’t be any false statements, there won’t be any hearsay, there won’t be any expert analysis from somebody else. It’ll be the real deal. But I’m not really ready for that to happen.”
