Tennessee freshman defensive end Andrew Butcher was arrested over the weekend when police found him intoxicated and running around Interstate 40, TheTimesFreePress.com‘s Patrick Brown reported on Monday.

The Knoxville Police Department responded to a drunkenness call at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday morning and found the former Alpharetta High School standout running around on I-40. Butcher, who enrolled early in January, was charged with public intoxication, underage consumption and possession and violating a controlled access roadway, according to TheTimesFreePress.com.

Butcher “had a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath, bloodshot water eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet,” TheTimeFreePress.com reports.

Butcher hasn’t practiced this season after undergoing knee surgery on the summer, but was a 4-star recruit out of Alpharetta.
