Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze spoke with the media on Monday and offered updates on his star tackle, Laremy Tunsil, and the Rebels’ ongoing quarterback battle.
Tunsil was held out of last week’s 76-3 blowout of UT-Martin due to an ongoing NCAA investigation. A first-team All-SEC selection in 2014, Tunsil’s presence will be crucial when the Rebels begin play against the SEC West.
Fortunately, Ole Miss has another tune-up game on Saturday against Fresno State before heading on the road to face Alabama. However, Freeze didn’t sound too optimistic about Tunsil’s availability.
While the Tunsil situation seems out of Freeze’s control, the Rebels’ quarterback decision is one that he will play a large part in.
Chad Kelly was the starter for Saturday’s game, and Freeze said that Kelly would start again in Week 2. All three quarterbacks received reps in the blowout win, which was by design. Freeze has maintained that he wants to see how his quarterbacks respond in various situations and with two easy games to begin the season, why not play all three?
Freeze’s entire conference, including his takes on the upcoming game, can be seen in the video below.
