Auburn fans need to persuade Gus Malzahn to stick to plain blue sweater vests.
If the numbers are right, Auburn is undefeated when Malzahn wears blue sweater vests with nothing across the front.
No striping. No school name. Nothing. Just blue, the Under Armour emblem and “AU” logo.
Clint Richardson, an Auburn uniform guru, tweeted a graphic that breaks down Auburn’s records when Malzahn wears a sweater vest in a game.
As you can see, Richardson even tracks when Malzahn wears long or short sleeves.
Richardson, it seems, has invested a lot of time into this.
What this shows is that Auburn is 10-0 when Malzahn wears a plain blue (even dark blue) sweater vest. Richardson pointed out in a later tweet that Malzahn has worn sweater vests in 20 games at the school.
The bad combo: The Tigers are 3-3 when Malzahn stalks the sidelines in a sweater vest with some sort of horizontal color stripe and “Auburn” on the front.
For the record, it doesn’t appear to matter if the “Under Armour” emblem is white or orange, just in case Malzahn wants to mix it up in the future.
