Just a few weeks ago, it wasn’t even known who Kentucky would start at quarterback. Recently, Patrick Towles was named the starter, and now he’s feeling lucky.
So lucky, in fact, he took to Twitter and responded to ESPN’s College GameDay’s post that listed national championship odds.
As you can see, Kentucky is given 500-to-1 odds. There are many other schools with improbable odds, but for some reason GameDay goes out of its way to point the Wildcats out and troll them.
Wildcats fans have to like the Towles’ fire to respond to a post like that, but maybe he and Kentucky should let their play speak for itself? The Wildcats have just four winning seasons this millennium and are 9-37 the last three seasons.
So while it’s OK for Towles confidence in his and the Wildcats’ abilities, he may want to keep his aspirations for the season inside the locker room – especially if the topic is a national championship.
Towles may want to wait until Kentucky has a few wins under its belt this season before he lists the Wildcats as national championship contenders.
One more thing: Doesn’t ESPN – the self-proclaimed “World Wide Leader in Sports” – have anything better to do than to troll Kentucky? Why the Wildcats?
Kentucky opens up the season against Louisiana-LaFayette on Sept. 5.
Update: GameDay has responded to Towles:
