Will SEC Network cut into football game attendance?

There are nine days until the launch of the SEC Network (5 p.m. Aug. 14), which made an expected late rally to join DirecTV’s lineup (and its 20 million subscribers) and push its reach to 85 million households.

The SEC certainly will benefit from the network, mainly in the form of money. A lot of money.

But who else will profit from ESPN’s newest venture that will televise more than 1,000 live SEC sporting events, including 45 football games this fall?

Rick Neuheisel latest to bash SEC teams, schedule

Steve Spurrier was right when he called this part of the year the “talking season.”

Now, Pac-12 Network commentator Rick Neuheisel is the latest person to bash the SEC, this time criticizing the conference’s November schedule and making snide comments about SEC Commissioner Mike Slive.

“Their (the SEC’s) November is so vastly easier than any other conference … they can sit back and watch (contenders) fall off,” he said at the Pac-12’s media days. Remember, Neuheisel played QB at UCLA and has coached at Colorado, Washington and UCLA coach, which are all now Pac-12 teams.
